Fuchsia Floras

Hello friends! Quick post today.
Just wanted to share a new polish that I’ve slightly fallen in love with.

SAM_5140
SAM_5139

Say hello to Back to the Fuchsia by Pretty & Polished. Bright, fun, and oh so summer.  Personally I would have named this colour something like “Malibu Barbie Does Drag” or maybe “Barbie Vomit” but regardless I still love it. This polish was reaallly neon. The pictures don’t do it justice in the aspect but I’ve found that all of my neon polishes are rather hard to capture.

SAM_5146

The decals are from Born Pretty Store and they were super cheap. These little flowers are sooo cute!
I can’t wait to try out the rest of them. Too many ideas spinning in my head!

SAM_5154

BUT perhaps the most amazing thing about this polish is that IT CHANGES COLOUR. Yes, that’s right. The colour changes depending on the temperature. This baby went from bright neon pink to a vibrant purple. It was really hard to take a photo of the purple colour because I’m always warm, but I still managed to capture it before it disappeared.

So what do you think? Love it?
Next up I have some fun birthday mani’s!

Scarab Pin Stripping

Hello again!
Last time I told you I was going to give you a post inspired by the Show & Shine vintage car show that I went to.
So here it is, my ode to the Show and Shine:

SAM_5120

So many of the amazing cars there had super awesome pin stripping. In case you aren’t aware of what that is it’s when people add thin strips of paint onto a car to add some detail. Google it because there’s some really beautiful and intricate pin stripping out there and it can make for some awesome inspiration. I was going to do a replication of some of the pin stripping we saw but then I decided to just go a little more freehand and pay hommage to all the talented artists who do freehand pin stripping.

SAM_5121

This year I bought Sally Hansen Lustre Shine – Scarab while we were out and about so I was determined to use it as my base colour. This polish is amazeballs. It transformed from blue to green and it had the most lovely subtle shimmer. I need to invest in more of the Lustre Shines.

SAM_5123

The pinning was done freehand with my long brush and I used an Orange La Senza varnish that I got on impulse and Sally Hansen Insta Dri – Sonic Bloom (which I bought at last year’s Show & Shine).

SAM_5124

I will likely never use the orange again because it had the most odd rubbery texture when it dried and the smell was weird. Oddly sweet.
But for this look it did it’s job. And what can I say about Sonic Bloom? It never disappoints.

SAM_5126

I was really digging this look. Also need to give props to Logan for picking out the colour. Needless to say he was very pleased with himself.
That boy knows how to pick out a good teal.

Enjoy your Monday friends!

Much love, D

Sleeping Palace Sparkle Explosion

Hey friends (and random strangers)!
So I’m sorry I’ve been a bad blogger. I think I just needed a little mental break. But I’m back!
& today I’ve got another A England inspired post to share.

SAM_5117

I wore these to the Show & Shine which is a vintage car show that lets people showcase their fabulous cars while I walk around and try not to drool too much. Seriously people, there’s nothing like amazing cars with holographic paint jobs.
Since I knew that this would be a pretty festive experience, I wanted to ensure that my digits were looking snazzy.

SAM_5118

I used Sleeping Palace as my base colour. Then I did strips of Rose Bower, Briarwood, and Briar Rose.
Then (because well.. I can’t say no to sparkles) I added Top Shop – Razzmatazz at the base of my nail.
SAM_5114

I was really happy with these – especially with how holographic they were in the sun!
Nothing beats a holo mani while your hanging out with some of your favourite people.

SAM_5105

Next up: a mani resulting from the Show & Shine. It’s a good one, I swear.

Much Love, D

Briar Drip

Hello again!
Today I wanted to a quick share of what I wore a few days back. I’ve been lusting for the new A England collection for a little while now (I mean come on, inspired by the story of Sleeping Beauty, aka Briar Rose, AND they’re all holographic?? It was meant to be). Unfortunately I was only able to get 4 out of the 5 polishes because I was just not paying attention when they came in stock. But that’s okay! Just means I have another lemming :D
So here’s what I did:

SAM_5081

For this look I used Briar Rose as my base colour and then I
did the drip with the newest member to the collection, Briarwood.
SAM_5079
Briar Rose is beautiful. I love having a pink toned holographic. It just feels so appropriate for the summer.
I was also really surprised by how much I liked Briarwood! Such a great brown. I’m going to be pulling this one out a lot in the fall.

This is also my first ever drip-acure! (I love how bloggers can just invent words.) In the end they reminded me of chocolate dripped strawberries which I love because I was not even trying. I was going for oozy, but it ended up looking more delicious-y.
So what do you think? Let me know below! Until next time.

Ola Rio

You know those stand out stars that every polish dreams of being? Ola Rio by Enchanted Polish is definitely one of em. I’ve had this polish for a while now and I finally got around to trying it out. All I can say is that it was so worth the wait. Take a look and see what you think. (please forgive my messy clean up job. This was my third attempt at a manicure so I was just DONE by the end of it.)

SAM_5071

SAM_5072

SAM_5075

Because it’s one of my most precious polishes I didn’t want to have to use too much of it at one time, so I opted to apply a base of Essie – Licorice first. I love love love how this combination looked & Ola Rio is just amazing. Every place I went to I had to check what colour my nails were. Pink! Gold! Red! Copper! Completely drool worthy. And you just know it’s a winner when even the boyfriend notices without a prompt from me.

Next up I have a few manis using 4 of A England’s new polishes, which of course I’m dying to share with you. Have a happy Thursday!

Lego Ladies & Gents

Hello, hello. How are you doing? Good I hope. Today I wanted to share what I did a little while back for my brother (in-law’s) birthday. I had been thinking about what to do for a little while but then I saw this post by Sincerely Stephanie & I knew I just had to give it a go.

SAM_4998

All of this was done freehand and I made my right hand ladies & my left little men.

SAM_4999

I used Sally Hansen Insta-Dri – Butter-fly Stroke as my base. Then I detailed with Essie – Blanc and Essie – Licorice,
and the lips were done using Sation – Love At First Lavender.

SAM_5004

I loved my thumbs!!
SAM_5000 SAM_5001
Now before you judge my little men let me just say two things. One: I’m left handed so using my right hand for detail work is always tricky. & Two: I fell asleep while they were drying so a couple of my faces had to be fixed up a bit & unfortunately my left hand suffered the most.
What can I say..I did my best.  I still love my lego men.
SAM_5003
SAM_5005

This look was lots of work but I’m really glad I pushed myself to do more freehand
(I actually think I might be getting a little better…slowly but surely my friends).
I was also really happy because everyone who saw them liked them so that means I did alright, and thankfully the birthday boy was pleased too.

Well that’s all for now but I promise you’ll hear from me soon.

Cosmic Rainbow

Hey all! So today I wanted to share a quick post about what I wore to a concert a few days ago. One of my closest friends, Gee (from In Jeeb We Trust), asked me to accompany her to a B-52’s concert. I was super pumped to dance and shimmy but I needed a manicure that screamed colour and fun just like the band. I ended up being inspired by one of their album covers and I think it really hit the mark.

Here’s the cover….
Cosmic-Thing-The-B-52-s-Album-Art

& Here’s my look!
SAM_5010

I did a side ways gradient and I followed the same colour pattern as the album.
I’ve never done a sideways gradient before and I must say that I love how it looks.
I can totally see myself doing these more often.

SAM_5009
The colours had to be bright and fun so here’s what I used:
Sally Hansen Insta Dri – Brisk Blue; NYC – High Line Green
Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear – Mellow Yellow; Zoya – Thandie
Sation – Love At First Lavender
& I also added my favourite Northern Lights topcoat to give it that extra sparkle.
SAM_5014

SAM_5015

While painting I realized that I didn’t have a gradient planned for my thumb but thankfully I was quick on my feet and used my Big Ruby Tattoos. I couldn’t decide on just one tattoo so I decided to just go for it and use two. Because yes I’m that bad ass.

SAM_5017

I’m so happy with how these turned out – bright, cheerful, and a bit kitsch.
And the concert! Gurrl, Let me tell you! We had front row seats but we ended up right at the stage. There’s nothing quite like watching a band who actually enjoys what they do for a living. It was a blast and I totally danced my ass off. You just can’t be sad at a B-52’s concert. Make sure to check out what Gee did here. I must say, we were totally on the same wave length. I’m still drooling over her mani.
Well, this quick post has turned into a long one so I’m done babbling now.
Enjoy your Sunday friends!

psstttt
here’s a couple shots because I just couldn’t resist sharing.
Her outfit makes we want to watch The Wizard of Oz.

Tutorial: Poison Dart Frog Mani

Hello friends! Today I wanted to share something that I’m really excited about: I’ve made another tutorial! It’s a fun look that doesn’t take much effort and the final look is awesome. Read ahead if you’re interested in recreating this mani!

SAM_4990

What you’ll need:
A sponge; Something to put your polish on (I used a zip lock bag); A Larger dotting tool & a smaller one (if you don’t have a dotting tool just use something with a round end – anything, even an old ball point pen – and just use less polish for the smaller dots); Black polish, dark blue polish, & a light blue polish (or use white & combine it with your dark blue).

For my colours I used Essie – Aruba Blue, Zoya – Blu, & Essie – Licorice
**So Dagmara made a mistake. I wrote white instead of light blue while editing the tutorial. So just ignore that. Or if you are using white well then …your welcome**

Now add top coat & clean up and…..Viola!!

Until next time.
