Turquoise Addict

Hey all!
So I'm pretty ecstatic that Summer has finally arrived.
I get to wear cute dresses and my awesome tribal print shorts and I can
leave my bulky-but-oh-so-comfy-and-warm-sweaters at home.
And you know what else? It's the perfect season for holos!

Palace Typography

Hey there!
Not much to babble about today so we're just going to get into the good stuff right away.
I decided to make another entry into the MoYou Instagram challenge, so here's my entry for Day 23 - Typography.

A England - King Arthur // A England - Sleeping Palace
A England - Jane Eyre // MoYou - Suki 05 // Essie - Set in Stones

Keeping with the literary theme I decided to pick polishes with some literary history behind them
(excluding Set in Stones - that was just for some sparkle). I love the contrast between King Arthur and Sleeping Palace.
Silver and purple were made for each other. I also think King Arthur and Aurora would get along.
She needed a hero and he had a table full of them.

As soon as I saw the list of themes I knew I had to use this pattern from my Suki 05 plate. To be honest I never saw myself
using it before but I think it really works with this look. I think it looks like ancient scripture.

So that's it for today!
Let me know what you think.

Holiday Mani-Madness Day 4 & Day 5

Glitzy Reindeer

Hey everyone!

Today I have day 4 and day 5 of Holiday Mani-Madness to share with you.
As mentioned in my last post I had a bit of a mishap with my original Christmas Eve/Day mani
so day 4 was really a last minute idea. So excuse the messy clean up job. I was rushed.

This manicure was sparked by a gorgeous glittery reindeer that sits on one of our shelves.
I decided on a gradient pretty quick but to add that extra oomph I knew I had to stamp.
How can you go wrong with snowflakes on Christmas?

Candles & Crystals

Now onto day 5! I was inspired for this look by a French Vanilla candle I bought at Winners for the holidays.
I loved the pattern on the label and the translucency of the crystal.

So that's it for Holiday Mani-Madness!
I hope you enjoyed all 5 looks because I had a lot of fun challenging myself
and keeping my digits super festive for the holidays.

Next up I will be posting my New Year's look
and I have a fun post of mani's you didn't get to see in 2013.

Happy Friday friends!

Much love, D.

100th Post: Vacation Mani’s

SAM_6231 -add
Hey friends!
Today marks one of my first blogger milestones:
100 posts.
I have to admit I’m really quite shocked. I didn’t even realize I was this
close until this past week. Thankfully everything worked out nicely and I have
a perfect 100th post to share: my vacation manis! It’s a bit long but hey, it’s
only fitting given the occasion. So let’s get started!

---------------------------------------------------------------

Look 1 – I am Enchanted

SAM_6297

For the journey I decided to use I Am The Walrus by Enchanted Polish.
It’s one of those polishes that needs nothing. It just sparkles and makes your life
a little less bleak.  I loved the coppery shimmer and the golden flecks. It also had this
flash of green or pink sometimes. I honestly can’t say enough about this polish.

Just look at that holo. Sparkle fantastic.
Application was flawless. Bit sheer on the first coat but it built up nicely.

Look 2 – Electric Fishies
SAM_6108

Yes that’s right, another EP. This beauty is Electric Feel by Enchanted Polish.
Most of the time this would go light green or silver and it was sooo beautiful in the sunlight.
Then I paired it with these decals from Nail Polish Canada.

& the sun shots….

Look 3 – Lychee Deco Accent

SAM_6141

During one of our evenings we decided to watch Gone With The Wind.
I love that movie. All the drama and the intense acting makes me swoon.
So it only felt fitting to use my O’Hara by piCture pOlish.
Then… I had a nail art melt down when what I wanted to do wasn’t working out.
Thankfully Gee was kind enough to do some accent fingers for me using stripping tape & Lychee by Barry M.
I think it turned out really perfect. Except for the I forgot-my-nails-were-painted smudge. Oh well.

SAM_6128

I love the tiny little pink flecks in O’Hara. So subtle (unlike Scarlet) but so so perfect.

Look 4 – Fruity Stripes
SAM_6157

For the last few days of our trip I wanted to use some more of my Barry M’s.
First I did a base of Strawberry by The Nail Junkie.
Then I added Dragonfruit & Papaya by Barry M.

Don’t mind the indent on my thumb nail. This time I thought they were dry already. Apparently not.
I didn’t really care though because the overall effect was still great.

So that’s it! Do you have a favourite look out of the 4? Let me know!
Thank you to everyone who’s stuck around long enough to see me hit 100.
I’m excited to see where else my blog will go.

Enjoy your Wednesday!

Much love, D.

Wicked Games On Silver Wings

Hey friends! First off let’s address the obvious – my blog layout has undergone a bit of an overhaul.
I know I do this quite often but I’ve been searching for a cleaner and more cohesive layout and I finally
figured out how I wanted it. I still have a few things I want to fix (i.e. my subscription buttons) but
overall I’m really happy. Do you like the changes? Let me know, I’m curious to hear your thoughts.

Now onto more important business – my mani. If you’ve been reading my blog you’ll how that I
celebrated my birthday two weeks ago. With birthdays come gifts. And what do my friends get me?
Nail polish of course. So here’s a look I did using 2 new polishes:

SAM_5390

SAM_5387

The first polish I used for my mani was Deborah Lipmann – Wicked Game.

SAM_5424

The second polish I used was Novel Nail Polish – On Silver Wings.

SAM_5425

Wicked Game is a beauty of a duo-chrome. It would shift from purple to silver to green. The formula
on this was great unlike my Amazing Grace by DL, which made me very happy. Dry time was great too.
Most of the time my nails were a purple-y silver colour and I quite enjoyed how it paired with the glitter.

SAM_5389
SAM_5391
SAM_5401

The glitter looked like broken glass pieces when put on WG. Which I loved because there’s something slightly off and
wonderful about the idea of holographic glass. I will say that the formula was a little thick though so I only used one coat and
did my best  to get large pieces which thankfully wasn't too hard. I love the big hexagons!
Also, the removal of this glitter was super easy. I forgot to use my Glitter A-Peel
base coat so I can tell you first hand that the glitter came off very quickly with acetone.

SAM_5404

Thank you to Gee & Steff for these beauties!
Make sure you check out Novel Nail Polish's Etsy Shop
to see some of her other great glitters. Until next time!

Much love, D.

7 Deadly Sins Challenge: Day 13

Hey there.
How is everyone? I’m doing alright. Just happy it’s Friday. I’ve been cleaning the house today and I needed a break, so I wanted to share what I did for the 13th day of the Seven Deadly Sins Challenge. (This is the final sin people! I only have one more look after this.) The prompt for this look was: “Recreate your own work to make it even better.”  I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do for this one but I ended up choosing this look that I did wayyyy back in December. I really loved what I did and I thought the photos did it justice, but looking back I have to say I’m very angry with myself for not using my actual camera sooner. In any case, here’s the recreated look:

SAM_4870

SAM_4873

I wanted to stick with the same polishes that I used the first time I did this look, so I once again used China Glaze – Midtown Magic as my base. Then I used my midlength brush and added Color Club – Cloud Nine.

SAM_4865

I was going to just use Topshop – Razzmatazz like last time but I recently bought
Essie – Set in Stones and I figured it was the perfect time to use it.
So I used Set in Stones first and then I added Razzmatazz to give it more sparkle.

SAM_4875

SAM_4872

I’m really glad I chose to recreate this look.
I loved the finished look when I did it the first time and I loved it now too.
I just kept telling the boyfriend: “Look! So sparkly! I love it.”
I think I might end up recreating some of my older looks just because this turned out so nicely.
Well that’s all for now friends. I’ll see you on the flip side.
