Holiday Mani-Madness Day 4 & Day 5

Glitzy Reindeer

Hey everyone!

Today I have day 4 and day 5 of Holiday Mani-Madness to share with you.
As mentioned in my last post I had a bit of a mishap with my original Christmas Eve/Day mani
so day 4 was really a last minute idea. So excuse the messy clean up job. I was rushed.

This manicure was sparked by a gorgeous glittery reindeer that sits on one of our shelves.
I decided on a gradient pretty quick but to add that extra oomph I knew I had to stamp.
How can you go wrong with snowflakes on Christmas?

Sally Hansen - Silver Sweep // BM plate 323

Candles & Crystals

Now onto day 5! I was inspired for this look by a French Vanilla candle I bought at Winners for the holidays.
I loved the pattern on the label and the translucency of the crystal.

China Glaze - Ingrid // Color Club - Cloud Nine

So that's it for Holiday Mani-Madness!
I hope you enjoyed all 5 looks because I had a lot of fun challenging myself
and keeping my digits super festive for the holidays.

Next up I will be posting my New Year's look
and I have a fun post of mani's you didn't get to see in 2013.

Happy Friday friends!

Much love, D.

Holiday Mani-Madness Day 3

Merry Christmas everyone!
Today I have day 3 of Holiday Mani Madness to share.
This look was inspired by these purple tree candles that I have sitting on my nail polish box.
I use the top tray as a display case/center piece on my desk and when I found these trees at the dollar store I just knew they'd be perfect. I should also add that the box was a gift from my boyfriend. It's nice to have a man who can build things.

Essie - Meet Me at the Altar // Northern Lights Silver Holographic Topcoat
Snow: Maybelline - Porcelain Party
Dark Purple Trees: China Glaze - Are You Jelly? // Esmaltes de Kelly - Wolfsbane
Light Purple Trees: Sally Hansen - Raspberry Race // Zoya - Stevie

Let me know what you think of this look in the comments!
Also! I was intending to post Day 4 tomorrow but unfortunately I used
Nail Pattern Boldness - Glitter a peel basecoat and my manicure
peeled before I had the time to photograph it properly :(
I will still be posting a different look but I have to postpone till Friday.
So I'll see you Friday!

Have a very Merry Christmas friends! <3

Holiday Mani-Madness Day 2

Pink & Cream Ornaments

Hello again! Welcome to Mani Madness Day 2.
Once again I sought inspiration from my beautiful Christmas tree.
This time I went for pink and cream ornaments.

OPI - My Vampire is Buff // Color Club - Miss Bliss // Sally Hansen Pink Blink

Here is a rare shot of my left hand...

I was really happy with these. It took forever to do but it was so worth it.
Sometimes all you need is stripping tape.

So that is it for Day 2. Let me know what you think below!
& I will see you tomorrow.

Much love, D.

Holiday Mani-Madness Day 1

Hello everyone!
Welcome to the first day of Holiday Mani-Madness.

Last year I ended up doing 10 different holiday themed manicures
throughout the month of December and I had a lot of fun doing it.
But this year I wanted to do something a little different. Instead of all month long I
will be posting a different holiday manicure every day for the next five days (the 23rd to the 27th).
Each day is inspired by a different piece of holiday decor
and you will not know what they are until I post.
So! here we go with Day One:

Gold & Green Ornaments

This look was inspired by some of my favourite ornaments from my Christmas Tree.
I decided to do a skittle manicure and then I added Zoya's Solange to do the upside down french.
Solange is just beautiful with topcoat.

(From Index to Thumb)
Enchanted Polish - Electric Feel // Zoya - Logan // NYC - High Line Green
Revlon - Spanish Moss // Zoya - Hunter

I was really happy with how these turned out. Just enough glam.
Let me know what you think of the look!
& I will see you tomorrow for day 2.

Much love, D.

100th Post: Vacation Mani’s

SAM_6231 -add
Hey friends!
Today marks one of my first blogger milestones:
100 posts.
I have to admit I’m really quite shocked. I didn’t even realize I was this
close until this past week. Thankfully everything worked out nicely and I have
a perfect 100th post to share: my vacation manis! It’s a bit long but hey, it’s
only fitting given the occasion. So let’s get started!

---------------------------------------------------------------

Look 1 – I am Enchanted

SAM_6297

For the journey I decided to use I Am The Walrus by Enchanted Polish.
It’s one of those polishes that needs nothing. It just sparkles and makes your life
a little less bleak.  I loved the coppery shimmer and the golden flecks. It also had this
flash of green or pink sometimes. I honestly can’t say enough about this polish.

Just look at that holo. Sparkle fantastic.
Application was flawless. Bit sheer on the first coat but it built up nicely.

Look 2 – Electric Fishies
SAM_6108

Yes that’s right, another EP. This beauty is Electric Feel by Enchanted Polish.
Most of the time this would go light green or silver and it was sooo beautiful in the sunlight.
Then I paired it with these decals from Nail Polish Canada.

Look 3 – Lychee Deco Accent

SAM_6141

During one of our evenings we decided to watch Gone With The Wind.
I love that movie. All the drama and the intense acting makes me swoon.
So it only felt fitting to use my O’Hara by piCture pOlish.
Then… I had a nail art melt down when what I wanted to do wasn’t working out.
Thankfully Gee was kind enough to do some accent fingers for me using stripping tape & Lychee by Barry M.
I think it turned out really perfect. Except for the I forgot-my-nails-were-painted smudge. Oh well.

SAM_6128

I love the tiny little pink flecks in O’Hara. So subtle (unlike Scarlet) but so so perfect.

Look 4 – Fruity Stripes
SAM_6157

For the last few days of our trip I wanted to use some more of my Barry M’s.
First I did a base of Strawberry by The Nail Junkie.
Then I added Dragonfruit & Papaya by Barry M.

Don’t mind the indent on my thumb nail. This time I thought they were dry already. Apparently not.
I didn’t really care though because the overall effect was still great.

So that’s it! Do you have a favourite look out of the 4? Let me know!
Thank you to everyone who’s stuck around long enough to see me hit 100.
I’m excited to see where else my blog will go.

Enjoy your Wednesday!

Much love, D.

Mother’s Day Mani 2013

Hey friends!
So yesterday was Mother’s Day and of course I have some themed nails to show you.
But I actually wanted to do something a little different for this post.
Instead of making it all about me I’m making it (mostly) about my mama.

Normally I paint my mom’s nails whenever she asks me to, but it’s usually kept to just a couple coats of whichever one of my polishes she’s been eyeing (aka no nail art). This year I decided that part of my gift to her was to not only paint her nails but to make it a little more special. I asked her to choose colours – she asked for purple and yellow. Then she specifically asked for flowers before I could even mention options. So I obliged but I kicked it up a couple notches just to give it that extra your-daughter-is-obviously-awesome-and-loves-you-very-much glow.

So here they are (& many thanks to my lovely model):

I used Sally Hansen Insta Dri – Raspberry Race (why don’t we pronounce the “p” in that?) as my base. For the yellow/orange flowers I used Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear – Mellow Yellow & Wet n’ Wild Wild Shine – Sunny Side Up. For the pink flowers I used Sally Hansen Insta Dri – Fuchsia Flare & OPI – Kiss Me On My Tulips. At the center of each flower I dabbed Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure – Golden Rule. (Can you tell I love Sally Hansen polishes?)

SAM_4766

So what do you think? Let me know below.

Of course the most important person in all this is my mama.
Thankfully she was really happy with them. While I painted we drank tea and watched 1952’s The Snows of Kilimanjaro staring Gregory Peck, Susan Hayward, & Ava Gardner.
I love watching old movies with my mum. I get swept up in the music and the dramatic acting.
I wish people still swooned in movies.
(I also wish I was always surrounded by soft lighting and that my lipstick was always impeccable. A girl can dream.)

Well that’s all for now everyone! Next up will likely be my attempt at a tutorial as I have to do one for the 7 Deadly Sins Challenge. We’ll see how that one goes…
