As soon as summer comes around all I can think about is lying on a beach some where.
I plan grand getaways in my head and think about all the possibilities.
I picture myself lounging on a chaise looking out at a crystal blue ocean and
feeling my body soak in the sun. And of course, I'd have a big old cocktail.
So I skipped the last two blogging days because of Easter weekend. 4 days of eating and cooking and cleaning and family can really take it out of you. But to make up for it I have another 2 in 1 post to share!
-------------------------------------
Easter Marble
Barry M. - Greenberry // Zoya - Blu // Models Own - Banana Split
I wore this look for half of the weekend.
I wanted to emulate Easter eggs so I made each digit different. The art was free handed and then I water marbled. Banana Split was a bit too watery for free handing but I made it work.
Am I the only one who finds water marbling extremely laborious?
So many things can go wrong. There's always a mess.
Thankfully I got a great tip from In Jeeb We Trust who said using a shot glass would help.
& it totally did! I mean making a mess while water marbling is basically unavoidable
but it really brought it to a minimum. The pattern was also a lot easier to create.
-------------------------------------
Ola Flynn
Zoya - Flynn // Enchanted Polish - Ola Rio!
For the second half of my weekend I wanted to keep it simpler because I just did not have the energy to do anything too involved. So I came up with this combo.
The shift in Ola Rio! is so amazing. Bronze, gold, AND purple.
Below is a bit of a blurry picture but you can see the purple peeking through.
-------------------------------------
So that's what I wore all weekend on my digits. Hopefully you had a great weekend. Next post will be Friday!
Hello again! Welcome to Mani Madness Day 2. Once again I sought inspiration from my beautiful Christmas tree. This time I went for pink and cream ornaments.
OPI - My Vampire is Buff // Color Club - Miss Bliss // Sally Hansen Pink Blink
Here is a rare shot of my left hand...
I was really happy with these. It took forever to do but it was so worth it.
Sometimes all you need is stripping tape.
So that is it for Day 2. Let me know what you think below! & I will see you tomorrow.
Today I've got a mani that I've had stored away for awhile - a neutral galaxy!
Zoya - Flynn // Zoya - Charlize // Zoya - Solange // Zoya - Stevie
The stars were done with Essie - Blanc
What do you think guys? I was sort of in love. The Pixie's gave the most amazing sparkle. I am trying though to find a better way to do the stars. How do you do your little stars on your galaxies?
I was also recently nominated for two different awards:
the Versatile Blogger Award and the Blogger Friendship Award.
I've chosen to combine the 2 together because well... they seem like the exact same thing to me.
Both ask you to nominate 14 other bloggers and to list 7 random facts about yourself.
So I've decided to list 14 facts to accommodate both awards, but 15 other bloggers is a hell
of a lot so I'm going to be a telephone an internet rebel and break the chain.
So here we go, 14 random facts about little old me.
The Facts...
(1) I love to organize. Even if it's just a box and all I did was reorganize it's contents, I always feel more relaxed and like I've accomplished something.
(2) I've been dating my boyfriend for almost 6 years now.
(3) I drink lactose free milk and in general I keep dairy to a minimum.
(4) My mom makes the best cheesecake ever (yes I'm bias but seriously - so good). I always ask her for the recipe but she does it all from memory. I realize this contradicts my last fact but my mom's cake is worth breaking my own rules for.
(5) I have never broken any bones in my body.
(6) My family treats Christmas Eve as a much bigger deal than Christmas day and as a result I get gifts earlier than most people.
(7) I played soccer as a child and continued into high school.
(8) I am bilingual - I speak both English and Polish.
(9) I love the shape of my eyebrows.
(10) I have a scar on my face that I got during my childhood while I was wrestling around with one of my closest friends. It's a battle wound I'm proud of because we were spunky and active and it reminds me of how much fun we always had.
(11) It bothers me when people wear leggings that you can see their underwear through.
(12) I make really good coffee and I very rarely drink more than one cup a day.
(13) I religiously watch The Young and the Restless.
(14) Every time I do a scratch and win I picture what I would do with the money I could win. Usually I picture myself jumping in the air and paying off my student loans. Oh, the dreams of a young adult.
Hey friends!
So sorry to have been away so long. I needed a bit of a blogging break.
When I blog I always strive to blog consistently and to
produce interesting posts, and I just wasn’t in the right mind frame to do either.
But! I’m back and all too quickly I’ve hit another milestone: my 1 year blogiversary!!!
Technically I hit it on the 11th of October but I got swept up in Thanksgiving
madness and didn’t get to posting until today – 9 days later.
But since this is my blog and I can do what I want we’re just going to ignore that fact.
Now onto the festivities. To celebrate this occasion I wanted to provide
you with multiple mani’s just like I did for my 100th post.
I’ve been gone so long, you deserve more than one look, so this time around you’re getting 4.
Let me know which look is your favourite!
& here's a band I'm a little obsessed with at the moment to get things started.
For this look I used Sally Hansen Lustre Shine in Lava as my base
and then I taped off the tips and used piCture pOlish in Aphrodisiac.
I loved the electric pink/glittering gold on plum contrast.
Total glam.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hunter in London
This is a look I wore while going out with some friends for tea and pastries.
I wanted something that embraced fall and all it’s deep rich colours.
I used Zoya – Hunter for my base and then on top of that I used Zoya - London.
To complete the look I mattified the whole thing with OPI’s matte top coat.
Next up, another dark and sultry manicure.
I used A England – Jane Eyre as my base and then I stamped using A England – King Arthur.
The plate I used was Sailor Collection – 06 by MoYou. You can find all their amazing plates here.
Seriously. If you love to stamp you need some of their plates.
Not only are the designs fantastic but the groves are etched deeply and the images transfer really well.
Last up, another MoYou mani. I wore this manicure for Thanksgiving long weekend
and I was lucky enough to have it last all 3 days of my fatty feast.
Nothing like family and great food to remind me of what I’m thankful for.
For my base I used Barry M – Lychee and then I stamped using A England – Briarwood.
The MoYou plate I used was plate 5 from the Suki Collection.
So that’s it! Hope you enjoyed my one year blogiversary post.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my little blog.
Now let’s get this next year rollin’!
Hello again! Today I’ve got a fun fall inspired mani to share.
I’ve been quite reluctant to dip my toes into fall colours because I was just so in love with all my summer hues.
But, just like always, summer ended. At least on the West Coast of Canada.
So here is my first real foray into Autumn.
For this look I used Flynn by Zoya.
Flynn is such a lovely latte colour. I can see myself being drawn to it a lot this fall.
Formula was great as per usual with any Zoya.
The decals can be found here at the Born Pretty Store.
I was going to put the decals on all my digits but I loved them so much that
I wanted to save some for future mani’s. Besides, Flynn deserved her own moment.
I was also lucky enough to get nominated for yet another Liebster award again by The Mercurial Magpie.
Since I’ve done it before I’m just going to answer the questions.
1. What inspired your blog name?
My blog was originally called Chaos &…. something.. I honestly can’t remember.
When I first started I wasn’t sure what direction my blog was going in.
All I knew was that I wanted to find a medium that allowed me to write and
flex my creative muscle and I wanted it to be an expression of who I am/was.
So when I finally had a direction I decided I needed to find a new blog name in
order to signify the change. I had created “Dagadelic” when I needed a username for
a website once and while brainstorming new blog names it popped into my head.
As soon as I typed it and saw what it looked like as a header I knew I’d found the
perfect name – something catchy but a real reflection of me.
That’s probably why I don’t really care what my blog was
originally called - it wasn’t the the right fit.
2. What nail polish color can you not resist buying?
I’m really drawn to pinks and purples but I love me a good blue.
3. You're rushing out the door and have 10 minutes to do your nails, what polish do you grab?
10 minutes??!! Ha totally not painting. But since I have to answer
the question I’ll go with Zoya – Godiva.
Needs no base or top coat and nude goes with everything.
4. Your house is burning down/you're on a deserted island/you're being abducted by aliens, etc....which 5 polishes would you take with you?
I’ll go with Barry M – Lychee, Color Club – Beyond, Zoya – Blu,
piCture pOlish – O’Hara, & Essie – Meet Me at the Altar.
5. What inspired you to get into nail polish in the first place?
Probably the fact that I wasn’t allowed to wear nail polish in elementary school.
Funny isn’t it? Always want what we can’t have.
6. What technique have you struggled with in the past and now mastered?
I don’t feel like I’ve mastered any particular technique yet. I’m always trying to learn
how other people are doing a technique and I’m always searching for any new nail
art tips and tricks I can find. With that being said, I guess I would have to say that
I feel my splattering has improved. I could just not do it at all when I first tried.
Luckily with some help from Gee and a whole lot of patience
I figured it out… sort of anyway. Still no where near as good as Gee.
7. What technique do you still struggle with?
Splatter hahahah. Oh and water marbling. There’s just too many factors that can and do go wrong.
8. What is your favorite type of manicure to do?
Gradients. Big impact for little effort.
9. How do you organize/keep track of your polishes?
I have a large shelf organizer that holds half my polish and then
I have a box on my desk that my boyfriend made.
I love it because he made the cover a tray so I can not only display
my latest favs but I also put whatever I haven’t used yet in it.
10. What commercial brand is your favorite?
Bit of a tough one for me. I’m split between Zoya and China Glaze.
11. What indie brand is your favorite?
This changes all the time for me. But right now I’m going to have to say Smitten Polish (psssssttt upcoming post).
Hey friends! Today marks one of my first blogger milestones: 100 posts. I have to admit I’m really quite shocked. I didn’t even realize I was this close until this past week. Thankfully everything worked out nicely and I have a perfect 100th post to share: my vacation manis! It’s a bit long but hey, it’s only fitting given the occasion. So let’s get started!
--------------------------------------------------------------- Look 1 – I am Enchanted
For the journey I decided to use I Am The Walrus by Enchanted Polish. It’s one of those polishes that needs nothing. It just sparkles and makes your life a little less bleak. I loved the coppery shimmer and the golden flecks. It also had this flash of green or pink sometimes. I honestly can’t say enough about this polish.
Just look at that holo. Sparkle fantastic. Application was flawless. Bit sheer on the first coat but it built up nicely.
Yes that’s right, another EP. This beauty is Electric Feel by Enchanted Polish. Most of the time this would go light green or silver and it was sooo beautiful in the sunlight. Then I paired it with these decals from Nail Polish Canada.
During one of our evenings we decided to watch Gone With The Wind. I love that movie. All the drama and the intense acting makes me swoon. So it only felt fitting to use my O’Hara by piCture pOlish. Then… I had a nail art melt down when what I wanted to do wasn’t working out. Thankfully Gee was kind enough to do some accent fingers for me using stripping tape & Lychee by Barry M. I think it turned out really perfect. Except for the I forgot-my-nails-were-painted smudge. Oh well.
I love the tiny little pink flecks in O’Hara. So subtle (unlike Scarlet) but so so perfect.
For the last few days of our trip I wanted to use some more of my Barry M’s. First I did a base of Strawberry by The Nail Junkie. Then I added Dragonfruit & Papaya by Barry M.
Don’t mind the indent on my thumb nail. This time I thought they were dry already. Apparently not. I didn’t really care though because the overall effect was still great.
So that’s it! Do you have a favourite look out of the 4? Let me know! Thank you to everyone who’s stuck around long enough to see me hit 100. I’m excited to see where else my blog will go.
