Godiva & Solange Gradient

Hey everyone. Today I have a mani that I wore for my dad’s birthday.
I’ve been dying to try out these colours together and I finally had the perfect opportunity.

My birthday and my dad’s (and my sister’s) are really close together and we share the same astrological sign – Leo.
So the combo of a golden yellow and a soft nude seemed totally appropriate.

I used Essie – Blanc as my base and then I used
Zoya – Solange and Zoya – Godiva for the gradient.

I was super happy with this look.
PixieDust’s never disappoint and they’re so freaking sparkly.
What do you think?

Much love, D.

Barry Fruit Gradient

Hello there!
Today I have another Barry M mani to share with you guys.
But! As awesome as this mani turned out there were definitely mishaps while I was trying to finish.
Originally I was wanting to do a tape manicure but then I came to discover that I had no tape. After deciding on a new direction and doing my base colour I accidentally spilled my gigantic glass of water all. over. my desk. But it wasn’t just my desk (because you know this would have had to have happened to someone else for it to only affect my glass desk). It was my papers, my slippers, my mom’s slippers, my carpet, my fan, and, the cherry on top, my phone. And of course I messed up a bunch of my nails because they weren’t completely dry yet. Once I’d sunk my phone into a bowl of rice and cleaned up what I could I got this manicure started and got back on track. Here's what I came up with:

I should also mention that as I was moving a chair my lap top charger got caught in the legs and my lap top came crashing down off my desk.
But don’t worry – I caught it. Basically it’s a miracle that this post is even up.

This time around I used Barry M in Lychee, Papaya, & Dragonfruit.
I love how these colours pop and really make a statement. Fruity wonderfulness.

SAM_5294

So what do you think? Was this mani worth all the hassle I had to go through? Let me know!
That’s it for now friends. Hope you have a great Sunday!

Much love, D

Barry Birthday Bliss

Hey there!
So as promised, here is part two of birthday bliss. I was craving a tape mani and I was also dying to use two more of my new birthday beauties.

SAM_5259
SAM_5262

For this look I used Barry M in Dragonfruit as my base and then after I taped I added Barry M – Greenberry.
I didn’t really have a set pattern when I started for the tape so I just played around with my first finger and decided on this.

Both these polishes were fantastic. Super opaque and the formula was superb.
A little on the thick side but that’s how I like my polish because I feel like I can manipulate it more. Also, I took these photos
a few days after I did my mani so I can definitely tell you that they don’t chip quickly.

SAM_5267

Super happy with these beauties. And I’m so glad Gee got these for me.
Did I mention I have two more of these babies? ;)
So what do you think?

Much love, D

Hello, Sweetie

Hey all!
So sorry for my absence. Got a bit caught up since it was…my bertday!! Turned 22 this year. Sort of odd to say that out loud. I always have a hard time readjusting to how old I am for the first few months and then as soon as I get comfortable with saying “I’m ___ years old” it ends up being my birthday in 6 months and then I start thinking about how old I’m going to be and then I get confused. (Awesome run-on sentence right?) In any case I ended up having a great birthday that was stretched out over a couple days. Which also means I have multiple manicures.
Today I have the first of 2 birthday mani’s to share with you guys. Fair warning – this is a wordy post.

SAM_5201

If you haven’t figured it out by now that InJeebWeTrust and I are close friends then let me be the first to tell you that we are. Many a milestone has passed and she’s been there. Kind of scary to think about what we’ve both experienced in the 5 and a half years that we’ve known each other
but it’s also wonderful to know that someone will stick through the bullshit with you.

SAM_5202

This year Gee and Lucas were gracious enough to host a birthday event for me at their place. We took in the sun during the day and lounged on blankets eating fruits, chicken and fries while the sun burnt every one one of us. Afterwards we headed to their place and I was treated to a home cooked meal and a birthday scavenger hunt. There’s nothing quite like a hunt that ends in too much nail polish being given to you. Needless to say this polish-aholic was ecstatic. I was also fortunate enough to receive an awesome nail buff-down from Lucas who basically sanded by nails to the shinest and smoothest surface possible. I sat for an hour and relaxed while he buffed and would say “Now we’re moving onto 2000!”. I felt like Goku powering up in his space ship while he traveled to Namek – except I wasn’t off to fight any evil. Unless you can consider the ridges on my nails evil.

SAM_5203

I just could not resist trying out some of my new babies and I ended up going with my new Nail Pattern Boldness in Hello, Sweetie. I was also gifted with Nail Pattern Boldness’ Glitter A-Peel which lets you PEEL OFF YOUR NAIL POLISH. My mind was blown. I’m pretty glitter obsessed when it comes to polish but I’ve always held myself back because of the clean up. No more my friends, no more. This stuff is amazing.
If you love glitter polish as much as I do then you definitely need to try it out. You won’t be disappointed.

SAM_5192

Oddly enough I’ve had my eye on Hello, Sweetie for a while now. I just never got around to ordering it. Gee knows me too well.
It’s definitely a little darker than what came out in the photos but it’s so beautiful. Red! Black! Gold! AND purple! It was meant to be.

I left that night feeling so loved and happy. I really don’t know where I’d be without these people in my life. I’m blessed and I’m so appreciative that I’ve been accepted and loved for who I am and not just what I can give. There’s nothing quite like a loyal friend.
That’s all for now friends. Day 2 will be up tomorrow.

Much love, D

Fuchsia Floras

Hello friends! Quick post today.
Just wanted to share a new polish that I’ve slightly fallen in love with.

SAM_5140
SAM_5139

Say hello to Back to the Fuchsia by Pretty & Polished. Bright, fun, and oh so summer.  Personally I would have named this colour something like “Malibu Barbie Does Drag” or maybe “Barbie Vomit” but regardless I still love it. This polish was reaallly neon. The pictures don’t do it justice in the aspect but I’ve found that all of my neon polishes are rather hard to capture.

SAM_5146

The decals are from Born Pretty Store and they were super cheap. These little flowers are sooo cute!
I can’t wait to try out the rest of them. Too many ideas spinning in my head!

SAM_5154

BUT perhaps the most amazing thing about this polish is that IT CHANGES COLOUR. Yes, that’s right. The colour changes depending on the temperature. This baby went from bright neon pink to a vibrant purple. It was really hard to take a photo of the purple colour because I’m always warm, but I still managed to capture it before it disappeared.

SAM_5156
SAM_5147

So what do you think? Love it?
Next up I have some fun birthday mani’s!

Much love, D

Scarab Pin Stripping

Hello again!
Last time I told you I was going to give you a post inspired by the Show & Shine vintage car show that I went to.
So here it is, my ode to the Show and Shine:

SAM_5120

So many of the amazing cars there had super awesome pin stripping. In case you aren’t aware of what that is it’s when people add thin strips of paint onto a car to add some detail. Google it because there’s some really beautiful and intricate pin stripping out there and it can make for some awesome inspiration. I was going to do a replication of some of the pin stripping we saw but then I decided to just go a little more freehand and pay hommage to all the talented artists who do freehand pin stripping.

SAM_5121

This year I bought Sally Hansen Lustre Shine – Scarab while we were out and about so I was determined to use it as my base colour. This polish is amazeballs. It transformed from blue to green and it had the most lovely subtle shimmer. I need to invest in more of the Lustre Shines.

SAM_5123

The pinning was done freehand with my long brush and I used an Orange La Senza varnish that I got on impulse and Sally Hansen Insta Dri – Sonic Bloom (which I bought at last year’s Show & Shine).

SAM_5124

I will likely never use the orange again because it had the most odd rubbery texture when it dried and the smell was weird. Oddly sweet.
But for this look it did it’s job. And what can I say about Sonic Bloom? It never disappoints.

SAM_5126

I was really digging this look. Also need to give props to Logan for picking out the colour. Needless to say he was very pleased with himself.
That boy knows how to pick out a good teal.

Enjoy your Monday friends!

Much love, D
