Sour Iris

After seeing this water marble manicure by In Jeeb We Trust I was inspired to dip
my feet back into the colourful waters of water marbling.
Took me a longgggg time since it's been so hot here in Vancouver but I was quite happy with the results.

Pineapple Party

I've been loving all the fruit inspired manicures I've been seeing floating throughout
FB and IG lately. I fell in love with this tutorial by just1nail and I decided to give it a go.

Butterfly Effect

Hey there!
Last time I told you I'd be sharing what I wore on my digits for Mother's Day.
So here they are.

Deborah Lippmann - Amazing Grace // Essie - Licorice
O.P.I Sheer Tint Collection // BM - 307

This was my first time using the O.P.I sheers and I have to say I really like them.
I love the colours! And I love that you can combine them to make even more shades.
The versatility is so great. I'm going to be trying these out again soon.

Do you like the butterflies? Kind of make my heart flutter.
And I like that they smudged a little. Made it a little more vintage-looking.

So what do you think? Let me know below!
Next post is will be up as usual on Monday.

Yellow and Grey N/OOTD

Hey all!
Hope you had a great weekend and if you're a mom well then I hope you had a great day.
I took my mom to a great park filled with flowers and beautiful views.
We sat on a shaded bench by the large fountain and relaxed.
Later I made cocktails and we watched a movie and the season finale of one of our favourite shows.
Oh, and of course I did her nails.

I'll be sharing my mother's day look with you guys later this week,
but for now here's my second entry into the MoYou Nail Art Challenge.
This is Day 12: OOTD

Deborah Lippmann - Amazing Grace // Sally Hansen - Butter-fly Stroke
A England - King Arthur // MoYou - Sailor Plate 06
& the shirt is from bebe

When I first used this DL I was so disappointed in the formula.
But something magical happened in the year that I haven't used it - the formula improved!
I couldn't believe it.

Sorry I went a little picture crazy but I really liked these.
Let me know what you think below!
I'll see you Friday.

Easter 2014

Hey friends!

So I skipped the last two blogging days because of Easter weekend.
4 days of eating and cooking and cleaning and family can really take it out of you.
But to make up for it I have another 2 in 1 post to share!

-------------------------------------

Easter Marble

Barry M. - Greenberry // Zoya - Blu // Models Own - Banana Split

I wore this look for half of the weekend.
I wanted to emulate Easter eggs so I made each digit different.
The art was free handed and then I water marbled.
Banana Split was a bit too watery for free handing but I made it work.

Am I the only one who finds water marbling extremely laborious?
So many things can go wrong. There's always a mess.
Thankfully I got a great tip from In Jeeb We Trust who said using a shot glass would help.
& it totally did! I mean making a mess while water marbling is basically unavoidable
but it really brought it to a minimum. The pattern was also a lot easier to create.

-------------------------------------

Ola Flynn

Zoya - Flynn // Enchanted Polish - Ola Rio!

For the second half of my weekend I wanted to keep it simpler because
I just did not have the energy to do anything too involved. So I came up with this combo.

The shift in Ola Rio! is so amazing. Bronze, gold, AND purple.
Below is a bit of a blurry picture but you can see the purple peeking through.

-------------------------------------

So that's what I wore all weekend on my digits.
Hopefully you had a great weekend.
Next post will be Friday!

Neon Easter Dotticure

Hey there!
So Easter's coming up and you might be planning a manicure and need some ideas.
I found this look/tutorial by Trendy Polish and I decided to try it out and share it with all of you.
I put my own little twist on it and it came out rather festive I think.

-------------------------------------------

China Glaze - Pink Voltage // Highlight of my Summer
Lemon Fizz // Mimosa's Before Mani's

I wanted to keep it bright and fun so I committed to my most colourful neons.
These pairings ended up kicking quite a punch.

 -------------------------------------------

Thanks for stopping by. Hopefully you're feeling a bit more inspired.
See you in a few days!

Sunny Booby Dance

Hey all.
Not too long ago I mentioned how much I’m loving Smitten Polish right now.
Today I’ve got two polishes from her most recent collection.
Say hello to Sunny Side Up! and Blue Footed Booby Dance.

SAM_6433

& here’s my look:

SAM_6407

These colours screamed gradient when I saw them and
since I’m prone to following my instincts I went for it.
I loved the green hue created between the colours.
The final look made me think of lagoons in the sunshine.

So what do you think? Let me know!
& if you want to get some of your own Smitten Polish then click here to go to her etsy store.

Oh! In case you were wondering what exactly the Blue Footed Booby dance looks like, here you go:

Much love, D.

Pastel Galaxy

Hello again!
How are you all doing? Vancouver’s been a little grey the past couple days
(which I don’t mind because we needed rain) so I decided to do something light and pretty.
I’d seen this tutorial by Nailasaurus a little while ago and I’ve been wanting to attempt it ever since.
So here is my take on pastel galaxies:

SAM_5565
SAM_5574
SAM_5566

if I had to decide what would exist in this galaxy then it would definitely be fluffy bunnies and unicorns.
And there would be a giant caterpillar smoking out of a pipe. There’s just something magical about it.

As with any galaxy that I’ve done before I had to use quite a few colours.
First up I chose to use Highlight Of My Summer by China Glaze as my base. Don’t be fooled by the bottle shot.
This polish is actually a lot more neon in person but my camera was having a hard time capturing it.
The nail shots show the true colour better.
Then I used Lemon Fizz by China Glaze & Greenberry by Barry M.

SAM_5501

Next I added Meet Me At the Altar by Essie, Stevie by Zoya, & Miss Bliss by Colour Club.
The stars were done using a dotting tool & Essie – Blanc.
To finish it all off I added my OPI Matte Top Coat.

Here’s the gang all together atop my current read: Mansfield Park by Jane Austen.

I was surprised by my how well this turned out. I have to admit I was slightly sceptical
because I just love galaxies using dark colours. I didn’t think it would work out but it totally hit the right note.
So what do you think? Are you loving the pastel galaxies or are you more partial to the darker versions?

Much love D.
